Shout, Shout! Creating the story of the Suffragette Surgeons of Endell Street.

Two down and two to go!  We have just run our second Archive Alive workshop with the ensemble cast for Digital Drama’s “Deeds Not Words” immersive theatre event which takes place on Friday and Saturday 7th & 8th July.  I was reminded once again how powerful this seemingly simple tool for character development is.  Using images from the Women’s Archive at LSE, the personal papers of Elizabeth and Louisa Garrett Anderson and photographs from the Cook-Dickerman Collection, we brought to life and improvised with a whole host of characters, from young female orderlies, nurses, doctors and physicians – we even had a brief visit from one of LGA’s dogs during the Hot Seat Q&A session!  Whether William (or was it Garrett?) will appear in the show itself has yet to be revealed – why not buy a ticket and find out?  Available from Eventbrite there are 25 tickets per show, so March, March, they’re selling fast!
